Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Specialty Job Specialty: FS Job Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Experience: 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required License: Current RN License; Multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Med/Surg experience, knowledge of nursing theory, and good verbal and written communication skills Job Description: - Provide nursing care in a hospital environment to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. - Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. - Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures. - Monitor and obtain physiological data, observe patient manifestations, and intervene when necessary. - Administer prescribed medications and manage intravenous infusions and blood products. - Deliver competent patient care and engage with patients and their families regarding care plans and discharge procedures. - Delegate tasks to support staff appropriately. - Perform additional duties as assigned. Preferred experience in ENT and/or transplant care is advantageous. Candidates should be skilled in managing patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT. Some patients will require step-down care. Ratio for surgical patients is 5:1 and for step-down area is 3:1.
